Of course, if you and your partner have been together for a while you'll have a routine worked out. They are also a good way to break the ice because you don't have to worry about always making conversation. If your partner is an inexperienced dancer you'll have an opportunity to teach her a few basic moves, and that will help you both decide how much you like each other's close company.
